Scarlet Team Sweeps in Cincinnati; Gray Team Earns First Victory
/This past weekend, the Buckeyes sent two teams down to the Harvest Classic at the University of Cincinnati. The Scarlet (A) team came away as the only undefeated team in the tournament and the Gray (B) team earned their first victory of the season!
The Scarlet team against a CWPA division opponent, the Bearcats of the University of Cincinnati. After getting off to a slow start, the Buckeyes tamed the Bearcats, winning 17-9. Next up, the Gray team took on the University of Dayton, falling 8-11 in a close game. In the Scarlet team's second game of the day, it was their turn to take on the Dayton Flyers where the Buckeyes emerged victorious, winning 17-6. The Gray team's second game, and the last for the Buckeyes on Saturday, put them against the host Ohio Squirrels, where they fell 5-11.
On Sunday, the Buckeyes were up early as the Gray team took on the Ohio Squirrels B team in the first game of the day. Things starting clicking for the Gray team as they won 12-4 for their first victory of the season! The Scarlet team got a little extra rest in comparison, and started their day off against the Squirrels A team. The Buckeyes were tested mentally throughout the game, but were able to pull away and earn a 10-7 win. For the Gray team's last game, they would take shot at the Bearcats, but weren't able to gain another victory, falling 7-11. In the last game of the weekend for the Buckeyes, they took on CWPA division foe, and the third seed in the upcoming division championship, Notre Dame and came away with an easy 15-4 victory over the Fighting Irish.
This weekend was the last tune up for the Buckeyes before Great Lakes division championships at Ohio State on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, where the Buckeyes will look to complete the 3-peat of winning the championship.
