CWPA Great Lakes Division Champions

Buckeyes repeat as CWPA Great Lakes Champions!

In our first match the Bucks provided just too much on both sides if the ball as we beat Loyola 18-6. Gruseck and B. McClurg were the high scorers with contributions coming from every spot on the bench including a shutout 4th quarter from freshman goalie Shepard.

Our second match saw the Buckeyes take on Great Lakes stalwart Grand Valley State University. After trailing for 3 quarters, on the back of excellent sub play from Parekh, we were able to capitalize on the great movement to win 10-9.

Sunday's only match saw the Buckeyes take on 2012 Great Lakes Champs, University of Illinois-Chicago. We took the pool and executed perfectly for 2 quarters only to find ourselves tied 4-4 after hitting the bar more times than the Alumni on Michigan Weekend.

The 2nd half was lopsided as was the first, with the exception of all the Buckeyes finding the back of the cage through the first 10 minutes of the half. With a 5 goal lead at 2:39 remaining in the 4th, the starters decided it would be best to add to Coach James' gray beard by giving up 4 unanswered goals in 2:33 before we finally, with a little drama, took the W, 12-11.

This earns the Buckeyes a bid in the 2014 National Collegiate Club Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 14 through 16.
